We are delighted to announce our sponsorship of this year’s KM Kent Literacy Awards.

We have acted for academy schools since their introduction and we pride ourselves on the wealth of expertise that we have built up in this area. We understand that academy status brings with it additional financial and governance responsibilities with the requirements placed on academies by the Charities Act, the Companies Act, and the Education Funding Agency, being very detailed. Our academies team understands this and provides a supportive hands-on service to help you navigate through the regulatory and reporting requirements of the sector.

Why we are supporting the KM Kent Literacy Awards

Whilst accountancy is often associated with good levels of numeracy, accountants also need to have an excellent level of literacy in order to communicate with their clients and to prepare effective and legible reports. Having good literacy and numeracy are two of the skills we look for when recruiting staff. As specialists in the education sector we are honoured and also feel it is important for us to support this excellent initiative. We look forward to receiving and reading the entries and would like to take this opportunity to wish all applicants good luck with their entries.

Trumpeting skills vital to the next generation

Nominations are accepted from parents, pupils, teaching, support staff and management at primary and secondary schools in Kent, Medway and Bexley that showcase initiatives that develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

Nominations officially open on March 1 and culminate with an awards celebration at Hempstead House Hotel, Sittingbourne at the end of June each year. There will be a fundraising raffle, with proceeds raised from the Kent Literacy Awards go to support reading projects in the region.

Reading, writing, speaking and listening skills are developed through a wide variety of cross-curricular topics, including arts and drama.

The awards called for nominations to showcase initiatives that make a real difference to the success of schools. The aim was to celebrate what has worked well in the classroom and help spread that best practice across the county.

A summary of all of the winning submissions will be published and circulated to every school in Kent, Medway and Bexley.

The closing date for nominations is midday 1 May 2017.
